Grocery Store Grabs: 6/2/2013

2 Jun

So, I haven’t made it to the store yet, but wanted to make sure to post about some great produce deals this week!  These prices will be effective until Tuesday, June 4.

Fry’s:

AZ grown cantaloupe: $0.99/ea
AZ grown honeydew: $2/ea
California yellow peaches: $0.99/lb
AZ grown hot house English cucumbers: $0.99/ea
AZ grown 16oz mini peeled carrots: $0.99/ea
AZ grown red tomatoes on the vine: $0.99/ea
AZ grown red potatoes, 5 lb bag: $2/ea
AZ grown mini seedless watermelon: $1.50/ea
Sweet corn: $0.33/ea
Red cherries: $2.99/lb
Broccoli or Cauliflower: $0.99/lb
Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or blackberries: $2.50/ea
Organic strawberries or blueberries: $3/ea

Also, the Fry’s milk half gallons are $0.88/ea, with a limit of 4.  Another good deal if you use the fuel points, is that all gift cards you buy will give you 4 times the fuel points.  Kroger family store gift cards are excluded, but there are plenty of gift cards to choose from.  With it being time for graduations and Father’s Day, it’s a great way to get extra points.  Or, if you are working on some home improvement projects, stop in and get one for Lowe’s or Home Depot before you shop to get the fuel points.  Fuel points can be used at Fry’s fuel stations, and select Shell and Circle K locations, and you can save up to $1/gallon (every 100 points earns $0.10 off per gallon) up to 35 gallons in one fill-up.  You can learn more here.

Safeway:

AZ grown cantaloupe: $0.99/ea
Sweet red cherries: $2.47/ea

Roma tomatoes: $0.99/lb
Organic Flavorosa pluots: $2.99/lb
Organic tomatoes on the vine: $1.99/lb
Organic peeled baby carrots, 1 lb bag: $1.50/ea

Safeway has 1 gallon of their Pantry Essentials milk for $1.89, limit of 2.  Also, with summer here, Powerade is $0.49/ea, limit 15, to stock up on to keep hydrated on the hot days.  Safeway is running a promotion for 2 times the gas rewards points on groceries after adding it on your card with the Just for U program.  They are also running a 4 times the points when you buy gift cards as well.  Best part?  They have now expanded the gas rewards here to be not only at Safeway gas stations (which we didn’t have here), but also at select Chevron and Texaco stations.  Glad to be able to finally use some of the gas rewards from shopping at Safeway.  I did notice that the Chevron stations in town had roadside banners for the Safeway gas rewards program.  You can learn more about the program here.

Cellfire Groundhog Day Giveaway

1 Feb

If you aren’t familiar with Cellfire, it is a savings site where you can download coupons to your store savings card or get coupons you can pull up on your cell phone to use at certain stores.  Fry’s (and Kroger family stores) is a participating store, so you can go and load coupons from the Cellfire website to go directly onto your VIP card to use like the digital coupons on Fry’s website.

Anyway, tomorrow, Thursday February 2, they are having a Groundhog Day Giveaway.  All you have to do is log in using your Cellfire account to see if you’ve won.  200 winners will get a $5 Amazon gift card, and 2 winners will get a Kindle Fire.

If you aren’t registered at Cellfire already I would suggest doing it before tomorrow because promotion days tend to make the site slow, so it’s easier to just log in instead of trying to register.  Click here to lean more about Cellfire and this promotion!

Fry’s Mega Sale and Deal of the Day

25 Jan

2 new promotions at Fry’s started today!  These promotions are going on at other Kroger Family stores as well.

First, today through 2/4/2012, there will be a Deal of the Day coupon that will be available for you to download onto your VIP card.   Click on the picture above to link to find the Deal of the Day coupon.

Second, today through 2/7/2012 will be a Mega Sale.  If you aren’t familiar with a Fry’s Mega sale, it works like this: you buy a certain number of participating products, you get a certain amount of your total.  So, in this sale, the amount of participating items you buy is 10, then you get $5 off your total.  You don’t have to buy 10 of the same item (although you can), you can mix and match participating items.  You can buy more than 10 items, but it must be in multiples of 10, so 10, 20, 30, 40, etc, and you will get $5 off for each multiple of 10.  So, $5 off with 10 items, $10 off with 20 items, $15 off with 30 items, and so on.  A while back, I created and shared a Savings Event Spreadsheet.  I would recommend downloading it from Google documents for use in Excel so it will work and print correctly.  This will help you plan a grocery store trip for the Mega Sale.  For this current sale, you will use the Buy 10 Event tab, and as you can see, it has sections numbered 1 to 10.  For the Event Savings, you will enter $.50 for each item ($5 divided by 10 items is $.50 per item).  For the Event Sale Price, you will enter the price after the savings are taken out, so if something is on sale for $1.49, then is $.99 after sale savings, you will enter $.99 in this column.  This is so you can make sure you get multiples of 10 and so you can see roughly how much you will be spending (before tax, of course).  A couple other tips for shopping a Mega Sale:

– Try to shop in the early in the morning or late at night when the store isn’t so crowded.  You will be able to focus on keeping track of your count.

– If you can, use the self check out to keep track of your count.  Every participating item will have a [+] next to it, so you know that you got the right item.  Also, after you scan in 10 items, you can click “Pay Now” and if you did get 10, it will take off the $5, then you can click Go Back to continue scanning the next 10 items.

– Don’t try to do too many sets at once.  If you want to use this as an opportunity to stock up on the sale items, don’t try to do it all at once.  Plan multiple trips, if you can.

– Look for a cheap item in the sale you can use as a back up filler.  That way if a certain item is out of stock, and you already have 9 items, you can grab your back up filler to fill in that last spot to make an even 10 and get your $5 off.

– Before you leave the store, check your receipt.  Usually at the bottom there will be a line that says “[+] = a number”  If you did it right, that number should be 10, 20, 30, etc.  If not, talk to customer service to see if you can get more items the right number to get your final $5 off.

That’s all I can think of for suggestions for the sale.  If you have a method you like to use, please share!  Happy Shopping!

1/27 edit:  Changed what you need to enter in the Event Sale Price column.  I haven’t used this spreadsheet in a while, and forgot how it worked.  It is corrected above what you need to enter.

Buy 4, Save $4, Tell 4, Save $4 More at Fry’s!

7 Jan

I’m a couple days late on this, but I’m just getting through my e-mails after my travel home.  This week at Fry’s (and Kroger family stores), there is a Buy 4, Save $4 sale on P&G products.  If you Tell 4 friends, you get a $4 digital coupon loaded directly on to your VIP card to be used on your next shopping trip.

So first, you go here and load a P&G coupon onto your VIP card.  After you load it to you card, it will take you to a screen to enter in 4 names and e-mail addresses.  After you enter those, it will load the $4 digital coupon VIP card.  Thank you Fry’s for the $4!

Staples HP Ink and Batteries Deals Continue!

5 Dec

Last week, I had posted about 2 Staples promotions, one for HP ink and one for batteries.  This week’s ad features the same deals, so if you weren’t able to make it last week, you can go in this week, through December 10, and still do the deals.

Here is the link to the post with the details: HP Printer Ink and Batteries at Staples

Fry’s Cart Buster Deal of the Day is Back!

2 Dec

Fry’s Food Stores (and Kroger family stores too) is having a Cart Buster sale event now through December 13.  You can go on the website to get a digital coupon that is the Deal of the Day for each day. After you load the Deal of the Day, if you e-mail at least 4 friends about the Deal of the Day promotion, you get  a $2 digital coupon loaded on your Fry’s VIP card.  You only get the $2 once, but $2 is a nice coupon to get!

Safeway Gift Card Promo

21 Nov

I somehow missed this in the ad for Safeway that came out in Sunday’s paper.  This is a nice gift card promotion too.  When you buy $100 in gift cards between 11/20/2011 and 11/23/2011, you get a coupon printed at checkout for $15 off your next order.  I haven’t gotten gift cards at Safeway before to know what specific ones they have, but I do know it is a pretty big display in the store, so most likely a good variety.  There are some restrictions and exclusions, so it says to check the display in the store to see which cards are participating.

Now, in addition, Safeway is running a 4x fuel points on the purchase of gift cards.  Since my Safeway doesn’t have a fuel station, and the nearest fuel station isn’t worth the amount of savings, I don’t pay attention to that promos to know all the details.  But, if you live in an area with a Safeway with a fuel station, the bonus fuel points make this an even better deal.

4X Fuel Points at Fry’s Food

20 Nov

Starting today, November 20, 2011, though December 11, 2011, you will get 4X the fuel points when you buy gift cards at Fry’s.  Perfect time to get gift cards for your Christmas gifts and get some rewards back for buying them.  Or, go get them to do your holiday shopping.  They have lots to choose from, and when they run a promo like this, I will go to Fry’s, get a gift card for the store I need to shop at, just to get the fuel rewards.  There are some exclusions, the Kroger family of store gift cards and the prepaid generic cards are not eligible.  But, if you are headed to lunch at Chili’s or need to pick up some things at Target, stop and get the gift card.

Why get so many fuel points?  For every 100 points, you get $.10 off per gallon of gas for 1 fill up (up to 35 gallons).  Then, Fry’s is still running the promo to get up to $1 off per gallon (up to 35 gallons) at fuel centers at Fry’s stores.  Buying 1 $25 gift card will get you $.10 off per gallon at a fill up, or buy 10 $25 gift cards to get $1 off per gallon at a fill up, or some number in between!  So nice, since fuel is still fairly expensive.

Cart Buster Deal of the Day

13 Oct

The Kroger family of stores is having a Cart Buster Savings Event.  Each day of the sale, you can get a new digital coupon.  Yesterday’s coupon was $2 off your purchase when you buy an 8 pack of Bounty paper towels.  The Bounty paper towels are on sale for $6.99, so with the coupon, it made it $4.99.  Today’s coupon is a free 12 pack of Pepsi Throwback or Mountain Dew Throwback when you buy 5 Pepsi 2 liters.  Pepsi 2 liters are $1 each for the sale, so for $5, you get 5 1 liters and a 12 pack.  At the bottom of the page, you can see what products will have coupons throughout the event, but the amount isn’t shown until the coupon come up for that day.  You can only get the coupon for the day it is available, so remember to log in each day to get it.  You can click on the picture above to take you to the Deal of the Day site to load the coupon each day.
