Suave Family Beauty Products

2 Jan

Recently, I received an Influenster Vox Box with 3 Suave Family Beauty products.  We received:

Suave Family Products from Influenster

Suave Moroccan Infusion Deep Conditioning Shine Mask for me
Suave Kids Apple Detangling Spray for my kids
Suave Men Active Sport body wash for my husband

I have naturally curly hair that tends to be really dry.  In addition to shampoos and conditioners, I usually do treatments to me hair to keep it shiny and healthy.  I hadn’t heard of the Suave Moroccan Infusion products until I received this box, so I was excited to try something new.  It’s very easy to use.  After shampooing hair, you put this conditioner on and leave it in for 3-5 minutes, then rinse it out.  This is done in place of your regular conditioner 1-2 times a week.  I really liked it for my hair, and this will be a great addition to my hair care routine in the future.

The detangling spray I have actually used for about 6 years on both my children.  They don’t have very curly hair like mine, but there is some curl and wave to it, especially when it’s wet.  We love this spray to help get the tangles out while combing their hair.  Plus, the apple scent makes their hair smell nice too, complimenting the Suave shampoo/conditioner products we also use in various scents.

The active sport body wash was perfect for my husband.  His occupation has him on the go quite a bit, plus on his time off, he spends a lot of time at the gym.  This has a nice “manly” scent, and helps keep him smelling nice.

These products can be found at many major retailers, including Walmart, Target, Walgreens, and CVS.

Dr. Scholl’s Active Series Insoles

3 Nov

Recently, I was chosen by Influenster to receive a pair of Dr. Scholl’s Active Series Insoles.  These insoles are designed to reduce shock my 40%, and to help relieve and prevent pain from shin splints, runner’s knee and plantar fasciitis.  This is done through the 3 zones of protection at the ball of the foot, the arch, and the heel.  They are available in 4 sizes:

  • Men’s (sizes 7½-10)
  • Men’s (sizes 10½-13)
  • Women’s (sizes 5½-8)
  • Women’s (sizes 8½-11)

The pair I received was for women’s shoes between sizes 8 1/2 and 11.  I normally wear a size 10, but when getting a shoe for walking, I usually buy 1/2 size to 1 size bigger.  Otherwise, as I walk, I tend to get blisters and discomfort because size 10 fits just right.  I recently got a pair of shoes that my friend tried a couple of times, but were hurting her feet and legs.  I started wearing them and was experience the same pain, as I am on the go quite a bit during the day.  So, I decided to try these insoles in the shoes.  I removed the current insole in the shoe, lined up the Dr. Scholl’s insole with it to see if any adjustments or cuts were needed.  No adjustments were needed, so I put the shoe insole and the Dr. Scholl’s insole in, and started my day.

Dr. Scholl's Active Series Insoles

The pain in my feet and legs is gone now, and I can get through the day great with these insoles.  Between school drop off, pick up, various volunteering, errands, and household work, I can wear my shoes more comfortably now to get my work done.  If you would like to try these, there is a $4 coupon available through the Dr. Scholl’s product page, and they can be found at various retailers, like CVS, Target, or Walmart.

Trying something new: Lifeway Kefir

Recently, I was chosen to participate in a program through Influenster to try out Lifeway Kefir.  Now, I had previously heard of Kefir, but I had never tried it.  However, it was on my list of things to try, and this opportunity was perfect!

First, let’s start with a little background on Kefir.  From their About section on their Facebook page:

The Lifeway Foods story begins in 1986 with kefir, a milk-based cultured drink that is popular in Eastern Europe and is said to be more nutritional than yogurt. That year, Russian immigrant Michael Smolyansky began manufacturing kefir in his basement to bring the taste of his native country to the U.S. After Michael Smolyansky passed away in 2002, his daughter Julie Smolyansky assumed the role of President, while his son Edward Smolyansky assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Today, Lifeway is the country’s leading manufacturer of kefir, with multiple flavors and varieties that include lowfat, whole milk and organic versions as well as a children’s line, and a provider of other probiotic natural and organic dairy products for health-conscious consumers.

What I also like about Lifeway Kefir is that they make it using organic milk from grass-fed cows, also free of growth hormones and antibiotics.  Plus, looking at the ingredients list on the side of the bottle, I know what all the ingredients are and they use natural flavors and coloring.  That’s a big plus for me.

My store had limited products, but I chose to get the 32 oz Low Fat Strawberry Kefir.  I poured a small glass for myself, my 4-year-old, and my 6-year-old to try just plain.  We loved it.  My 4-year-old has recently become very picky, but is a big fan of yogurt.  She really liked this drink.  My 6-year-old is going through a bit of a fussy food stage, where some new things are icky no matter what, but she only had good things to say about it.  I liked the creamy, thick texture, and the strawberry flavor is right on.  It’s very similar to other yogurt smoothies that I’ve had before.  I think it’s great just plain, but I think it would also be good over cereal or granola in the morning for breakfast, or as an addition to a frozen fruit smoothie.

I’m hoping that the other grocery store in town has a bit more selection, and maybe even the Frozen Kefir.  The 32 oz was priced at $3.89 at my local Safeway, which I think is reasonable considering the price of other yogurt.  With as much as we enjoyed it, I’m hoping to get this into our monthly grocery budget to have on a regular basis.

Influenster: Turn Your Social Influence into Rewards

11 Nov

A few months back, a couple of friends of mine had received Vox Boxes from a company called Influenster.  Naturally, I had to check it out.  So, what is Influenster?  Well, according to their site, here is their definition: Influenster is a free-to-join community of invited trendsetters who live to give opinions of products and experiences. Influenster creates links between brands and members to reward participation and influence future products.  It seems similar to House Party, another community I joined a few years ago, where companies give out free samples of new products to members, who host a party to share the product with their friends, then all share reviews of the product.  I really enjoyed House Party, but it became difficult for me to schedule gatherings for the product reviews.  The difference I see with Influenster, is that instead of having a party, you, and sometimes a friend, try out a product, and use social media to review the products.  With neither, you get paid monetarily, you get paid in products.

So, after joining Influenster in July, I didn’t really do much with my membership.  I filled out some information, earned a couple of badges, and got busy with other things.  Recently, Influenster had a make-over and relaunched their website.  I don’t remember much about the old website, but the website now is eye-catching and easy to navigate.  I’m still learning all the ins and outs of their system, and this blog is one of my first steps to getting more active in it.  I also recently received my first Vox Box, which I will be sharing the details of very soon.  I’m not sure if the effort will be worth it yet, but I guess we’ll see!

So, if you like to see new products and give your opinions, Influenster might be the place for you!
