Coupon Lingo

In some of my posts, I may use some abbreviations, part of what I call “Coupon Lingo”.  These are the same abbreviations you will see on a lot of sites that do coupon match ups.

$1/1 = $1 off of 1 item

$1/2 = $1 off 2 items, or $.50 per item

Blinkie = A coupon that comes from a machine in the store aisle

BOGO or B1G1 = Buy one, get one

Catalina = A coupon that prints out at checkout, separate from your receipt

ECB or EB = Extra Care Bucks/Extra Bucks. This is CVS money earned for purchasing certain products. They print immediately on the bottom of your receipt. You must have a CVS Extra Care card to get these.

EQ = Electronic coupons you can load to your store cards, like Safeway or Fry’s, or from other sites like Cellfire.com, Shortcuts.com, and P&G eSaver

EXP = Expiration date of the coupon or deal

GM = General Mills insert, occasionally included with weekly Sunday newspaper inserts

IPQ = Internet Printable coupons. Can be either manufacturer or store coupons you print from your computer, usually a limit of 2 prints per computer.

MIR = Mail in rebate

MQ = Manufacturer coupons

OOP = Out Of Pocket. This is the money you have to pay.

OYNO = On Your Next Order. This term is usually used when talking about Catalinas.

P&G = Proctor & Gamble, a coupon insert in the weekly Sunday newspaper. Usually comes once a month, and coupons are usually only good for that month.

Peelie = A coupon found on a product that you can peel off and use

Q = Coupon

RP = Red Plum, a weekly Sunday newspaper coupon insert. There are also sometimes printable coupons available at their website, redplum.com.

RR = Register Rewards. This is Walgreens money earned for purchasing certain products. These print from a separate machine called a Catalina, not on your receipt. There is not a rewards card required to get these.

SS = Smart Source, a weekly Sunday newspaper coupon insert. There are also printable coupons available at their website, smartsource.com.

WYB = When You Buy

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary. This means that what works at one store or with one manager may not work at others.
